About Shaykh Shaqur Rehman

  • A Scholar of Islamic Jurisprudence
    Shaykh Shaqur pursued his traditional Islamic studies in Egypt (1999–2001) and continued in his studies in Syria and Saudi Arabia, during which time he memorised the entire Quran (Hafiz) and earned Ijaza in Qur’anic recitation, alongside authorisations in various Islamic sciences, including theology and jurisprudence.

     

  • Senior Adviser at the Islamic Council
    In his role, Shaykh  Shaqur delivers nikahs, offers marriage and family counselling, and serves as a senior instructor in Islamic Council marriage programmes and workshops like Marriage Primer, Marriage Matters, and Marital Mastery.

     

  • Active Casework
    He regularly provides hands-on counselling for couples facing marital difficulties—a core service as part of Islamic Council’s mission to reduce marriage breakdowns. Having guided hundreds of couples via Islamic Council online and live workshops—and hearing feedback like “saved a marriage” and “very beneficial” he brings proven, real-world insight to Masjid Tawhid’s event.

9:30am - 1:15pm - Morning Session - Foundations of a Blessed Marriage
Start by grounding yourself in the essentials every Muslim must know before marriage
- Session 1: The Divine Aims of Marriage (9:30 am - 10:30am)
- Session 2: Eight Considerations before a Marriage Meeting (10:30 am - 11:30am)
- Session 3: Choosing the Right Spouse (11:30 am - 1:15pm)

All in person registrants will be served a meal after the morning session.

2:30pm – 5:30pm - Afternoon Session - The Marriage Contract & Real-Life Realities
Understand how to do it all properly, and what marriages done right look like in practice
- Session 4: How to Get Married (2:30pm  - 4:00pm)
- Session 5: Case Studies (4:00pm - 5:30pm)

All in person registrants will be served refreshments, tea, coffee and biscuits after the afternoon session.

6:00pm - 9pm - Evening Session - Strengthening and Sustaining Your Marriage
A toolset for long-term success; nurturing love, solving conflicts, and growing together
- Session 6: Excelling Together as a Couple 
(6:00pm - 7:30pm)
- Session 7: Conquering Conflict (7:30pm - 8:30pm)

All registrants of the Marital Primer workshop will be given access to the Islamic Council portal, where they can view course materials, including session recordings and additional resources.
