Trust adopts Child Protection Policy
The Masjid Trust has now formally adopted a Child Protection Policy, in line with guidance from the London Safeguarding Children Board, and in consultation with other masjids in the Borough. This will particularly be relevant to the Masjid Madrasah.
We hope this will ensure the Masjid Madrasah is run according to best practises and to the highest standards, particularly following the numerous complaints received by the Trustees regarding the ex-Madrasah Head Teacher Mrs Shakeela Hasan, wife of Dr Suhaib Hasan. Some of these complaints constitute child mistreatment and/or cruelty, such as expelling young children from the madrasah without an adult to accompany them home, or preventing children from using the toilets to the extent that they wet themselves in their clothes. Other complaints were for alleged racist treatment.
These complaints have already been submitted to the police and the Child Protection Agency for further investigation, and Mrs Shakeela Hasan has been dismissed from her position. However, taking advantage of the disputed management situation in the Masjid, she has continued teaching at the Madrasah.
Parents who have any further information to help in this investigation are requested to contact the Trustees in confidence by emailing
